今年 7 月於日本播出、由京都動畫製作的電視動畫《Free!》，於 11 月 6 日推出了第三卷的 BD（Blu-ray Disc）與 DVD，其中 BD 商品在首週銷售出 1.6 萬張的好成積，並於本週首度獲得了日本 Oricon 公信榜 BD 當週排行的冠軍。這也是同作繼第二卷發售後二度獲得週排行冠軍。
《Free!》作品以架空的小鎮「岩鳶町」為舞台，描述一群高中男生為了想要游泳而創立游泳社，進而努力參加比賽的的青春物語。
除了 BD 之外，同作的 DVD 第三卷在發售當週也獲得了 1.1 萬張的銷售成積，於 DVD 綜合排名中獲得了第二名的成積，在動畫排名中獲得了冠軍。（本次推出的影音商品初回特典，包括了將於明年舉辦的《Free!》特別談話活動門票優先申請券等特典。）
